Features of SUZUKIRISHIMA

Refreshing, light, floral, fruity,
and rich in flavor.
Through the intricate fusion of these elements,
we achieved
an “aerial taste” that balances a light, smooth mouthfeel
and deep, rich flavor, a balance that is typically difficult to attain.

A new taste experience born from our
passion for quality ingredients

Suzukogane sweet potatoes

A new sweet potato variety jointly developed by Kirishima Shuzo and NARO’s Kyushu Okinawa Agricultural Research Center. It produces a vibrant aroma along with the characteristic sweetness and rich flavor of sweet potato shochu.

Fuwari Genmai (brown rice)

The koji is made using rice milled from brown rice to an optimal degree. Compounds in the rice bran layer produce a richer, more complex aroma.

Aerial Yeast

A unique yeast developed and improved by Kirishima Shuzo through selective cultivation. It produces a strong, fruity aroma.

* Aerial Yeast and Fuwari Genmai (brown rice) are unique terms coined by Kirishima Shuzo.

The thoughts behind the label

The SUZUKIRISHIMA label incorporates the
Kirishima Mountains, the symbol of Kirishima Shuzo,
the Suzukogane sweet potato used in its production,
and bells inspired by the product name.

The bells, seen as symbols of happiness in Japan,
feature traditional patterns of natural elements like cherry blossoms, clouds, and Kirishima Rekka-sui,
which are vital to Kirishima Shuzo’s shochu production.
It also expresses the depth and complexity of the taste.

The champagne gold color complements Western cuisine
and finger foods, bringing an elegant touch to the table.

The calligraphic “Kirishima” kanji
behind the SUZUKIRISHIMA text reflects
our endeavors to create for the next generation
using the skills and experience that Kirishima Shuzo
has cultivated over more than a century.
