This commercial features striking and beautiful imagery of the Kirishima Rekka-sui water that is the base of Kuro Kirishima EX, a galaxy symbolizing nature’s golden ratio, and the Kirishima Mountains, which are essential to making Kirishima Shuzo’s shochu, to promote Kuro Kirishima EX as an all-new type of sweet potato honkaku shochu.

Kuro Kirishima is the flagship product of Kirishima Shuzo, Japan's top shochu manufacturer. I am truly honored and delighted to be able to lend my voice to support the new release of the even more appealing Kuro Kirishima EX on the 20th anniversary of this top brand. I’m also thrilled that since I was involved in the project, I got to try it ahead of its release. It made me yell out, “Delicious!” I hope that both longtime Kuro Kirishima fans and all of Japan — make that the world — get to try this unparalleled flavor and crispness!

Kuro Kirishima EX’s pentagon motif contains countless instances of this golden ratio.
The five sides of the gold pentagon on the label list five aspects, including the three Kirishima shochu flavors our second president strove for (sweetness, richness, and roundness) as well as the main flavors of Kuro Kirishima (rich and crisp). Bringing out these five elements to the fullest helped us create a golden ratio of flavors: the Delicious Pentagon. The inner portion of the pentagon lists messages like “100% Kyushu-grown sweet potatoes,” “100% Kirishima Rekka-sui,” “100% domestic rice,” and “Honkaku shochu is sugar and purine free.”
We designed this label with the desire for our customers to enjoy our delicious shochu with complete peace of mind.

Kuro Kirishima EX’s theme is the golden ratio. The pentagon on the label contains countless instances of the golden ratio and is the perfect symbol for this product.
The TV commercial, flyer, and poster for Kuro Kirishima EX use images of the golden ratio found in nature, including galaxies, conch shells, golden spirals, and pentagrams to convey this golden ratio of flavors.

Kuro Kirishima EX is our completely new sweet potato honkaku shochu featuring the golden ratio of flavors known as the “Delicious Pentagon.” The highlight of its aroma is the sweet scent of sweet potato honkaku shochu. It doesn’t have an earthy potato smell. Instead, its taste is defined by a gentle, sweet potato aroma that almost envelops you for a truly full-bodied flavor. It has a crisp aftertaste that never gets old while retaining a rich shochu quality created by the sweet aroma characteristic of sweet potatoes for a robust flavor. Adding a smooth, richly satisfying finish lets these flavors continue to linger on.
Delicious on the rocks or mixed with hot or cold water, Kuro Kirishima EX is a great option to enjoy both with and after a meal. This sweet potato honkaku shochu lets you enjoy your drinks your own way.

Kuro Kirishima EX is made from 100% Kyushu-grown sweet potatoes, pristine 100% Kirishima Rekka-sui water from the Kirishima Mountains, and 100% domestic rice, and it’s 100% produced at our factory in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The flavor and aroma are also carefully analyzed based on the meticulous senses of our blenders, and the base shochu is blended using the optimal ratio to create the golden ratio of flavors we call the “Delicious Pentagon.” Our commitment to 100% and the Delicious Pentagon production method led by the seasoned skills of our blenders are what bring the delicious flavors of Kuro Kirishima EX to life.
